Solicitation Rant

Working in a warehouse complex has its faults. The biggest is the number of solicitors that come around trying to sell crap. Usually its a good laugh, as my dad tries hard to bargain with them (ie: turn the tables) which usually causes them to run (and the other times he ends up with the junk!).

But I'm ranting today. Yesterday a guy came by from my ex-employer, Rogers, to sell their business services (telephone). Not wanting to change anything, my dad told the guy no, and he was sent on his way.

Today, another guy comes, who also introduces himself from Rogers. Here I was alone, but I had known that they had sent someone just the day before. I told him right away, that someone from Rogers had come by yesterday, and spoken with "my dad the owner". And the conversation goes something like this:

Him "Oh, did he leave anything with you?"
Me "No, as I said, he spoke with my dad regarding it"
Him "Oh, um, ah, hmm, okay, so he already spoke with you about our services"
Me "No he spoke with my dad about it"
Him "Oh, is the owner in?"
Me "No, as I said, the guy that came in YESTERDAY spoke with my dad who IS the owner"
Him "Oh, do you know what they talked about"
Me "No, they spoke with my dad. I wasn't there"
Him "oh, hmm okay... so then everything is okay?"
Me "I think so?" (thinking WTF?)
Him "Okay, thanks"

Does the saying "out to lunch" mean anything. Wow!
