Focal Point: Intermediate Course - Day 2

Yesterday was our second class of our course which ended up being a field trip to downtown.

We met up at Robson Square for about 30 mins, then went around shooting a variety of images. We started first with streaking headlights, moved off to some light painting, then were left to go around on our own. I walked/shot around with Emma and Kaitlin as walking around late at night in downtown ALONE with my new equipment didn't seem like a good idea. We went down to Granville st and took a bunch of shots. I wish I took more now that I think about it, but it was a pretty chilly night, and my fingers were taking their toll, specially with the long shutter speeds.

Above are two pictures I took, one from the streaking headlights (taken with my 50mm) and the 2nd pic, taken across the street from the Commodore using my 17-85mm. Aura Mckay my new teacher gave me the idea of using a 4sec exposure, 1sec full tele, with a 3sec slow zoom out to 17mm to give the effect shown in the Commodore picture.

If you want to view the exif data, they are attached to the images, or check them out in the gallery.
