Boxing Day

Another Boxing day, another hole in the pocket. But it was a good deal I swear!

I've been looking for a new center channel after getting the new amp, because the current Yamaha, just wasn't up to par on the new amp. So I was looking at a Dalhquist to match my current fronts.

So I stopped by Visions with Trev and Luke, and met up with my salesman Francis. As with the amp he was able to work me a good deal. I ended up going with the QX50CA (dual 5" cones) which is in the middle of the center channel lineups. Retail price was $459 (Audioshop.ca retails for $499). Boxing day price was $337. Francis took off $40 ($297) but I only wanted to spend $300 taxes in. He ended up taking it down to $272, (so $310 after tax) which was good enough. Infact a really good deal. So without much thinking I ended up going with it.

So I hooked it up, and instantly you could tell a difference. Bass was more across the boards with the fronts, and not so spread out.

Today was more time spent in the HT. I spent about 3-4 hours hooking up my 7.1 (2 rear surrounds) on the back wall. The hardest part was wiring up the right side, because I had to run the speaker cable thru the wall, but it wasn't as bad as I thought, just time consuming. I actually just finished about 5 minutes ago, but dad wanted to watch some football. Turned on some HD football, and the amp shows DDigital EX. I think I'll have to throw on Top Gun SE and some LOTR TTT to check out the rears to the full potential.
