Boxing Day
| So I went booting around today with Trevor for boxing day. I ended up getting all my tank stuff first. Check out the reef section for more info...
Futureshop had a good deal on some yamaha or polk audio front channel speakers for $199. When I got to FS however, I was more interested in the $399 Athena speakers. Nice sounding, so tempting. Later on I went to Visions with Vimal just to check out if they had the same ones. They only carried the higher end Athena speakers, but what they did also had, were Dahlquist Audio Speakers.
Another high end end speaker system, made in Canada. One of the salesguy, who I originally asked about the Athena speakers, said the model I had seen at FS were only avaliable at FS. He took me into the theatre room, where they carried all their speakers. They had one floor model left of the QX9 Floor Standing speaker systems. Original price was $995cdn. Marked down to $499.
Way more than I wanted to spend. As it was, I didn't even want to spend the $399 on the Athena's. The big plus, however on the Dahlquist, was that unlike the Athena, these had dual mid-bass drivers, unlike the single on the Athena. I still expressed how expensive they were, and was able to work down the guy to $440. Still to expensive. He knocked off another $25, ($415), and I also had my warrenty credit of $79.95, which was used towards them as well. So $335, was my end price. Not bad, and not a deal to give up. Grumble, so I gave in, and bought these wicked speakers. I've connected them, but still have to set them up. |
