Short Field Landings
So today I went up to Langley, and tried some short field landings. It was the first time doing circuits there, and I can understand why. The runway is SHORT. You pretty much need to land as soon as the runway starts. 40 degrees of flaps is needed, and as soon as you land, flaps up, carb heat in, and full throttle, cuz there are trees pretty close to the end of the runway, which comes fairly quickly.
The first time I had to overshoot, because I came in way to far in the runway. Second time John showed me how its done, and 3rd time I was able to do it. Its pretty hard, but very cool. After that we took off back to ZBB for some more circuits and called it a day.
I should be doing my check flight with a Class 1 instructor soon, as I'm almost ready for solo...
